STACKED welcomes your input and accepts material for review. Since the writers are spread throughout the country, we reserve the right to determine who is best suited to review your material or we may choose to each review it round robin style. We are honest in our reviews, but we are hyper aware of the five laws of Ranganathan. We believe that nearly all materials have an audience, and it is our goal to help identify that audience.
Genres of Interest
We accept most genres, but we do not accept e-books or self-published titles at this time. Because all of us have such different preferences and an open and receptive attitude toward trying new things, we are eager to read most styles and genres, ranging from poetry to picture books. We're entirely receptive to not only printed books, but also audio books as well. Please understand, though, we cannot accept everything.
Genres of most interest include:
- Adult, Young Adult, and Middle Grade Fiction: realistic fiction, science fiction, fantasy, dystopian, coming-of-age, mystery/thriller, historical fiction, and romance are favorites.
- Adult and Young Adult Non-Fiction: contemporary issues, social issues, psychology, cook books, history books that tell about lesser-known events or that put a new twist on well-known events.
- Memoirs or biographies with a compelling issue or about a new, exciting aspect of a well-known historical or contemporary person.
Genres Generally Not Accepted
We are not interested in paranormal fiction unless it brings something entirely new or fresh.
Formats Accepted
We accept print books and audiobooks. We are happy to receive graphic novels or manga in any of our preferred genres, as well.
While we will periodically review ebooks, we do not accept .pdf files and prefer not to receive egalleys for review.
Cross-posting
We strive to review books we receive in a timely manner, and we link our reviews not only to the blog, but also to our respective GoodReads accounts (Kelly, Kimberly, and Jen) and other outlets as appropriate (including Twitter spotlights). We do not sell books we receive, but we reserve the right to use them as giveaway prizes through our blog. Reviews may also be posted on Amazon, LibraryThing, and other commercial sites.
Giveaways and Other Features
Because our goal is to promote literacy and reading, we're eager to help out in blog tours, author interviews, and other similar opportunities. We are also receptive to giveaways. However, we will not participate in a tour, interview or giveaway if we are not offered the opportunity to review material beforehand. We reserve the right to determine whether something is suitable for promotion through our blog.
Giveaway Policy
All giveaways are one entry per person, unless otherwise specified. Parameters of any giveaway are listed. Only entries received via designated entry forms will be accepted, in respect for the privacy of our readers. All giveaways are open only to those 13 and older.
Privacy Statement
We respect the privacy of all publishers and of those who enter contests we may hold. Therefore, no publisher's contact information will be shared with others and no personal information of readers who enter our contests will be shared.
Time Frame for Reviews
Any book used for a tour, publicity purposes, or give away will be read and reviewed in a timely manner. We respect publisher's preferences regarding pre-publicity buzz and are willing to hold reviews of titles until closer to publication date if requested. Let us know if you have a preference.
Not all books accepted will be reviewed, but we will make an effort. As full-time librarians, we do this out of our love for reading and spreading the word of good books.
Last Words
While sometimes books we get excited about can let us down, it is our goal at STACKED to ensure that we match our book to a reader. Periodically we will post reviews for books that did not work for us; however, our posts will identify strengths and readers who would find the book a perfect fit.
We also follow FTC guidelines for disclosing sources if review books or products are received. We also like to thank those suppliers.
